This tour is limited to 10 people with a minimum of 6.

Beginning around 8 am with pickup in the city you’ll head south through open savanna woodlands on your way to the mighty Adelaide River Floodplain.

Stop over at Fogg Dam where the diverse habitats of monsoonal forest, wetland and floodplain combine to provide the perfect place to observe the Top Ends unique wildlife.

With over 230 different species of birds recorded in this region you are bound to find a favorite. Here also begin your bushcraft journey of discovery by learning some of the bush foods and medicine plants of the Top End as you stroll through and under this beautiful greenery that surrounds.  Nature at its finest.

From here we go in search of some intact Top End woodlands to get amongst.  Representing the major ecosystem type the forests of the north are significantly different than those found elsewhere in Australia.  Full of native plants with many traditional uses  they form the backbone of the Top End environment. Spend some time being introduced to some key woodland specimens before turning your attention to the coastal environment and the vibrant mangrove system which stands guard along much of the NT coast.  Rich in food and resources for the forager or survivalist alike, mangrove are the keepers of the coast but fragile.

For you today we will settle and enjoy a simple lunch of salad and cold meats overlooking the scenic Fannie Bay finished off with a leisurely stroll along the beach after our insightful foray into the mangrove forests.

All in all a comprehensive introduction to the natural diversity of the Darwin Region.
